Animal Acupuncture:

Beth’s always had a love of animals and began working in a local veterinary hospital during high school. She continued to work in various veterinary hospitals throughout college and acupuncture school, knowing that one day she hoped to include animals in her acupuncture practice. In September 2006, she became Certified in Animal Acupuncture after completing the 187 hour Animal Acupuncture Certification Course required in the State of Maryland. Beth is extremely happy to be making house calls for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and birds to receive acupuncture. She provides acupuncture in the comfort of the animal’s own home in Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. Barn calls are also available to treat horses. Give your pet the gift of this amazing healing modality . Call Beth at 410-591-2644 to schedule an appointment today.

Facts About Animal Acupuncture

• Acupuncture is meant to complement, not replace traditional veterinary care. Animals must be seen by their veterinarian for an exam within the 2 weeks prior to their first acupuncture treatment. A copy of your veterinary receipt will be needed on the day of your first visit. This is required by Maryland law.

• Acupuncture has been used to successfully treat animals for over 3,000 years.

• Acupuncture needles are thin, stainless steel, sterilized, prepackaged, and disposed of after each use.

• Side effects of acupuncture are rare and most animals become very relaxed during treatment.

Your Pet’s Treatment Experience

During the first visit we will speak at length about your pet’s health concerns and address any questions you may have about acupuncture and the healing process. We will also discuss your pet’s health history in detail, followed by a physical examination. The goal of the first appointment is to assess the underlying conditions that have led to your pet’s current symptoms. Following the initial consultation, ideally your pet will be seen in weekly sessions for 4-5 treatments. A longer series of treatments may be required for pets with chronic long term problems, and acute problems may require just 2-3 treatments. Treatment sessions may be over in as little as five minutes or last as long as a half an hour, depending on your pet’s condition. As your pet experiences an improvement in symptoms, treatments can be spaced out to every other week, once a month, and eventually seasonally.
